This past weekend I had just finished up work with Bory and Sandy’s Wedding Photographs. I arrived bright and early with my wife, and started the day at 5 am.  Covering this event lasted all the way till 12 am at mid night which was exhausting. But the good news is that I had plenty of images captured.

It seems as if every wedding has something new to offer, and this was no exception. A lot of techniques were tested at this event, and although there were a few mistakes we are able to learn from them. All in all though, it was a very successful day, and we took a lot of wedding photographs. I’m also noticing our photographic skills are accelerating at a rapid rate. If this keeps up we can probably produce high quality wedding photographs that is equal to master wedding photographers. I believe this is because I have an obsessive nature to learn. If I’m confused about something, or just curious, I can spend hours reading about one particular thing. Especially with the ease of access to knowledge through the internet, I’m able to sift through hundreds of articles and pretty much self teach myself what most people would learn through conferences or classes.

Freedom Aerospace is one of our newest launches for Curiosity Media. The site took around 3 months to develop, and it is the first site to tackle a database that contains 7 million plus records of just airplane parts information. The challenge was to find a way to retrieve a 7 million record database and not bog down the servers processing.

Mysql database is not always the best choice if you want a huge database of records. But although it’s not perfect, the best way to improve performance is to carefully choose your indexes for each table. You also need to find creative ways to partition, or break up these records. Unfortunately I recently figured out how to further improve the efficiency of data retrieval. ‘Apache Lucene’ is the key to this, and I wish I had known this sooner, because I think the server that is hosting Freedom Aerospace doesn’t have Java support. And for those of you who thinks Java is just another delicious hot drink, well it’s actually a powerful programming language.

This is the latest revolution in apple, and it’s called the Macbook Wheel. It’s the first macbook with absolutely no keyboard, can’t wait to get my hands on one of these babies.

It is so common for people to be tired of working for a company and for them to branch out on their own. From a statistics I pulled from the ‘Center for Ethics and Entrepreneurship‘, 2,356 people go into business for themselves every day, and 57.8% of those businesses start online. The reason why there is such a strong trend towards starting an online business is because it breaks traditional paradigms of starting a business. People can now work from the comfort of their own living room, they can start a business with relatively low investment, they are able to reach a global audience, and it’s easy money. While this is true for some very small percentage of people, this is, for the most part, a myth!
